What’s Goin’ On in the NT: October 2017

It’s that time again and we’re back with the NT’s best events for October. If you’re a keen fisherman, an avid golfer, lover of death defying cinema or you’re hanging to see Aussie rock legends and the King of RnB perform live, October’s got what you need, baby.

Golf Month

Golf Month

That’s right, the whole month of October is Golf Month, and regardless of whether you live on the green or have never swung a club in your life, there’s events for all to enjoy including workshops, open days and games for the whole family.

The NT has a number of fine courses to visit, and if you’re thinking of a trip to the Alice, make sure you grab a few holes at their world famous course designed by non-other than golfing legend Peter Thomson.

Coopers Blue Water Classic

Get ya reel on from the 27th to the 29th of October at the Blue Water Classic. Challenge your mates, along with other fishing aficionados, to see who can get their hands on the biggest Marlin, Mangrove Jack, Trevally, Salmon, Cod, Black Jewfish or Coral Trout.

The comp is both a weigh-in and catch-and-release event and is suited for all levels of gear and experience.

Humminbird Corroboree Creek Challenge

If it’s Barra ye be after, get on down to Corroboree Creek and be a part of the Barra-Extravaganza.

The challenge runs from the 20th to the 22nd of October and features in fishing hotbeds like the Mary River Bridge Lagoon, Shady Camp, Hardies Lagoon, Alligator Rivers and of course, the Corroboree Billabong.

For more details, you know what to do.

Barkly Muster Gold Rush Camp Draft

If you’re after a real outback experience, or you’re just a cowboy/girl at heart, Tennant Creek’s Barkly Muster has got you covered.

This bush rodeo showcases the NT’s rich culture of cattle rearing and is what many would call a true celebration of outback life.

Our What’s Goin On guide has never featured a section dedicated to beer before, but seeing as it is October – a month synonymous with liquid amber – we thought it’d be a great time to start.

From the 6th to the 8th of October, Darwin’s Skycity transforms into little Germany with festivities featuring Germanic cuisine and of course wonderful, wonderful BEER!

The event is strictly 18+, but that doesn’t mean you can’t play dress ups. And the best part is, those dressed in their best German attire will go in the running to be crowned Mr and Miss Oktoberfest – will it be you?
